When our Higher Education client needed more than traditional recruiting, we provided the cost effective alternative solution they were looking for.
Scenario
A private, graduate institution in Chicago, Illinois was seeking a Vice President of Professional Education for a newly created division of the school. The school was in fast growth mode and looking for a level of talent that would elevate them to the next level. They wanted to do more than traditional advertising, but budgets were tight and they needed to move fast.
Strategy
The Duffy research team implemented a multi faceted strategy that included identifying and contacting 30 individuals with expertise in professional education (15 Chicago area; 15 national contacts). This networking yielded 2 Chicago-based candidates and 4 national candidates. Duffy also posted the job in The Chronicle and pre-screened individual applicants. The posting yielded 1 additional candidate that was qualified and in the salary range.
ROI/Results
• 7 candidates were submitted. The client interviewed 5 of the 7
• The client hired 1 of these candidates
• The research investment resulted in:
o 1 hire, base salary $100,000
o Streamlining of the hiring process
o The ability to attract a passive candidate (i.e. one who was not looking for a job)

Comparison
Typically, our research fee is 10-14% of the first year total salary (varies based on job level and industry). The cost per hire on this project was less than one-third the cost for the same candidate using a traditional search firm.
