Private Graduate Institution seeks Vice President of Administration
Scenario
The school was in fast growth mode and looking for a level of talent that will elevate them to the next level. They wanted to do more than traditional advertising, but budgets were tight and they lacked the internal manpower to conduct the search quickly. Strategy
The research team implemented a multi faceted strategy that included identifying and contacting 50 regional individuals in higher education administration at the Director through Vice President level. This networking yielded 4 Chicago-area candidates. Duffy also posted the job in The Chronicle and pre-screened individual applicants. The posting yielded 2 additional candidates (out of state) that were qualified and in the salary range.
ROI/Results
• 6 candidates were submitted. The client interviewed 3 of the 6. • The client hired 1 of these candidates. The candidate that was selected was a passive recruit (was not looking for a job at the time of the recruiting call) • The research investment resulted in: o 1 hire, approximately $100,000 base salary o Streamlining of the hiring process o The ability to attract a passive candidate o Research/data regarding salary level in the region and nationally
Comparison
Typically, our research fee is 10-14% of the first year total salary (varies based on job level and industry). The cost per hire on this project was less than one-third the cost for the same candidate using a traditional search firm.
