An outsourced recruiting partnership aimed at keeping profitability up, and costs down!

Scenario

Simpler Consulting, Inc., a professional consulting business that provides consulting services to organizations of all industries, was faced with the need to hire as many as two to three new consultants a month over a period of time to keep up with the demand from their customers for their specialized services. Leaving positions unfilled could translate into lost revenues and potentially the loss of clients. Headquartered in Ottumwa, Iowa with offices in the United Kingdom, Simpler clients include Fortune 500 companies located around the world.

Strategy

The challenge was to keep recruiting costs down while hiring strong candidates in a timely manner. In order to do so, Ed Constantine, chairman and founder for Simpler, Inc., enlisted the help of DuffyGroup, Inc., renowned in the industry as the expert source for seeking professional to mid-level positions. Working on an hourly fee-for-service basis, the Duffy research team served as an extension of the Simpler organization. Outsourcing Duffy at both ends of the process, on the front end to identify and pre-screen candidates and on the back end to handle reference checking, proved an effective recruiting method for Simpler.

Results

Simpler needed a skill set of experts that were willing to leave their jobs in management and operations to use their leadership expertise as consultants. Utilizing a company to research candidates helped them find strong candidates and save money in the process.  Duffy continues to provide Simpler with an on-going supply of candidates enabling them to deliver for their customers.

“We did not want an executive search firm to bring us people that all we had to do was cross the T and make them an offer,” explained Constantine. “We wanted candidates that we could send through preliminary phone interviews and then pass our hiring cell interviews, before we would hire them.”

“Utilizing this blueprint for our recruiting worked well and saved us time and money,” adds Constantine. “The Duffy research team is better at generating candidates than we are...letting them do the digging and networking to find qualified candidates and then convincing them to consider the opportunity was invaluable for us.”
