When a massive reorganization required hiring hundreds across North America…we had the solution!
Scenario
One of our valued clients, a Fortune 100 manufacturing company with widely dispersed field sales and service organizations, was restructuring. This reorganization resulted in the creation of a new position, requiring an extensive recruiting initiative across North America in a very short period of time. This project had a massive scope – more than 110 office locations in more than 50 states & provinces, as well as a tight turnaround of 1-3 months. The client’s internal corporate recruiting staff was busy handling day-to-day needs including internal hires/transfers, advertising, managing postings on the company’s website and several job boards. They retained DuffyGroup, Inc. as their sourcing partner for this new job family.
Strategy
We broke the project down into two phases. Phase 1 involved screening, qualifying and interviewing candidates who responded to postings. Behavioral interviews were conducted and detailed profiles were completed on all qualified candidates.
It soon became obvious we needed to increase candidate flow to supplement Phase 1 efforts. In Phase 2, we worked closely with our client’s corporate and regional HR staffs as well as hiring leaders to identify service locations that would require research to surface passive job seekers in related targeted industries. Locations changed weekly. This process was replicated until positions were filled:
• Conducted research to generate a list of local companies that fit the recruiting strategy
• Name generation within targeted companies to identify potential candidates
• Pitch, qualify and interview candidate pool
This project required us to dedicate internal resources to hire, recruit and train multiple contractors to assist in the process. Data was captured on all contacts to enable our client to download research to their applicant tracking system for future recruiting projects.
Results
We sourced and screened thousands of prospects and submitted 191 candidates in 100 markets during this six month assignment. We mobilized internal and external resources to tackle this complex recruiting effort with staggered start/stop points to immediately respond to continually shifting priorities. Our research team has continued to support this client with ongoing recruiting engagements as well as additional pipeline projects.
